HBO’s forthcoming seven-hour miniseries Criminal Justice has undergone yet another casting change. After James Gandolfini died last year, Robert De Niro signed on to replace the Sopranos star. Now THR is reporting that De Niro has backed out due to a scheduling conflict, and Oh Brother Where Art Thou’s John Turturro will be taking over the lead role. The show is an adaption of Peter Moffat’s 2008 BBC drama of the same name, and centers around an ambulance-chasing lawyer named Jack Stone (Turturro) who must defend a man accused of murdering a girl on the Upper West Side. Still, judging by the way things have gone so far, the next rough-edged Italian actor in the line of succession should be on standby. On your toes, Joe Pesci.
