Billy on the Street star Billy Eichner and How Was Your Week? host Julie Klausner are starring in and creating a potential TV show together. The USA network has ordered a pilot presentation (a.k.a. a short pilot) for Difficult People, a scripted comedy produced by Amy Poehler, THR reports. Eichner and Klausner will play two best friends who are comedians in New York City who love pop culture and hate everyone except for each other. Klausner, who is currently writing on Fox’s Mulaney, is Eichner’s head writer on Billy on the Street. Poehler has guest starred on Billy on the Street, and Eichner had a recurring role on the most recent season of Poehler’s Parks and Recreation. Billy on the Street is currently in the middle of its third season and has yet to be renewed for a fourth.
Difficult People is the latest in USA’s push towards comedy programming. The network recently launched the Jessica St. Clair-Lennon Parham series Playing House and the Denis Leary-produced EMT comedy Sirens. The network has also ordered 12 episodes of lawyer sitcom Benched, starring Happy Endings’ Eliza Coupe, which is expected to debut later this year.
