The Seth Rogen-Zac Efron comedy Neighbors came out this weekend, earning $49 million at the box office, the highest-grossing opening weekend for a live-action comedy this year. Surprisingly, women made up 53% of the audience for the film this weekend, which isn’t exactly what you’d expect from a raucous, R-rated comedy about a war between a family and a frat house. Sure, Rose Byrne, Neighbors’ female lead, has a huge part and a lot of funny moments and good-looking guy Zac Efron is in it, but it is still a pretty dude-centric to go over so well with the opposite gender.
