Last year it was announced that Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughn were teaming up to star in a Gary Sanchez-produced buddy comedy together called Daddy’s Home about “a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad ever to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling, freeloading real father arrives, forcing stepdad to compete for the affection of the kids.†Ferrell’s costar has switched two times so far from Ed Helms originally attached in 2010 to last year’s announcement that Vince Vaughn had joined the project with Tropic Thunder’s Etan Cohen onboard to direct. While both incarnations of Daddy’s Home fell apart, Deadline reports today that Paramount is now putting the film on the fast track to production “with talks heating†for Mark Wahlberg to star opposite Ferrell and Horrible Bosses 2’s Sean Anders and John Morris to take over directing duties. Daddy’s Home would make the second Ferrell/Wahlberg buddy comedy following the 2010 hit The Other Guys.
