In Guardians of the Galaxy, Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord treasures nothing more than a classic-rock mixtape from his mother, an aural reminder of his brief boyhood spent on Earth. When we ran into Pratt last night at a Guardians screening hosted by the Cinema Society, Men’s Fitness, and FIJI, we brought up Star-Lord’s “Awesome Mix Vol. 1,†and asked the actor what he might put on his own personal playlist. “Oh, that’s a good question!†Pratt enthused. “I’m a big country music fan, so probably a lot of Garth Brooks, Eric Church, George Strait. Maybe some good ‘80s music — we were listening to some Madonna in the car today; I was singing the Patrick Swayze song from Dirty Dancing today.†With his thoughts collected, Pratt launched into an off-the-cuff playlist, which you can listen to below.
“So … Eric Church, ‘A Man Who Was Gonna Die Young.’ Or ‘Dark Side.’â€
“George Strait would be, like, ‘Troubadour.’â€
“Garth Brooks would be, I’m just throwing it out here, ‘Unanswered Prayers.’â€
“‘She’s Like the Wind,’ Patrick Swayze.â€
“And what was the Madonna song we were singing in the car? Star light, star bright … star light for a Star-Lord!â€
