The good news isn’t yet over for Community fans. Now that the show’s sixth season has been secured thanks to Yahoo, THR spoke with Sony Pictures Television exec Zach Van Amburg about the Hulu and Yahoo talks, Dan Harmon’s role in the process (“front and centerâ€), and most importantly, the show’s future following the upcoming season. Here’s what Van Amburg had to say when pressed about a possible seventh season:
I don’t know, let’s see how our movie does! Isn’t that our plan? There’s no way we’re not making the movie now! I think once we make the movie, let’s look up and decide how much more Community the world wants. We promised six seasons and a movie, how much more do you want?! [Laughs.] … I’d be lying if I told you that we have not had some very early and preliminary conversations that are very exciting about what a potential movie could be and who might direct it. It’s early but it’s completely in our thought process.
So there you have it: Community has gone from failing in the ratings to canceled by NBC to resurrected by Yahoo to now guaranteed a place on the big screen, all in the span of the last six months.
