Avedon, Elgort, & More: 20 Years of Fashion Ads

A model vacuuming the lawn in icy Gianfranco Ferré satin, the detail of a McQueen dress camouflaged in a lush flower bed — Neiman Marcus’s latest Art of Fashion campaign, which is now in its 20th year, puts the season’s fashions into particularly unusual environments. In honor of its 20th anniversary (Richard Avedon shot the first campaign in 1994), the retailer has compiled the greatest hits of some of its most memorable fashion photography  from past campaigns. (Photographer Nadav Kander shot this year’s iteration, dropping models into environments like paper dolls into a playhouse — one rides a rope swing in Oscar de la Renta, another keeps her balance on cinder blocks in a printed Valentino coat.)
