In Listen Up Philip, Jason Schwartzman plays a caustic, egotistical author who befriends his literary idol (Jonathan Pryce) and travels with him to his country retreat, fleeing his failing relationship with his girlfriend (Elisabeth Moss). The dark, Woody Allen–esque comedy premiered to rave reviews at Sundance this year, and it finally hits U.S. theaters October 17. Unfortunately, Moss and Schwartzman don’t have the opportunity for too much adorable banter in the film, but thankfully, there’s always real life for that.
