Christopher Nolan’s Brother to Adapt Isaac Asimov’s Foundation for HBO

After spending years on the screenplay to his brother’s Interstellar, Jonathan Nolan is going back into space: The Wrap reports that the younger Nolan is working with HBO on an adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series. It’s Nolan’s second project with the network after J.J. Abrams’s planned Westworld adaptation and his third TV show overall. (He previously created Person of Interest.) Asimov’s seven-book series concerns the rise and fall of new galactic empires; Nolan previously told IndieWire the books contain “ideas … that’ll set your fucking hair on fire.†If the Foundation show takes off, Jonathan Nolan will finally be “Christopher Nolan’s brother†no more. At least in the career sense. In the fraternal sense, they will likely remain bonded.
