Even though it’s only been roughly half a year since the release of Ultraviolence, Lana Del Rey has done much more than just lay the blueprints for a follow-up project. In an interview with Billboard, Rey revealed she has nine songs and a cover ready for the forthcoming album Honeymoon. Four of the songs apparently have “perfect†production already, but the artist is still “looking for a few more songs to tie everything together.†The cover, “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,†was made popular by Nina Simone, and Rey will reportedly use it to summarize the album.
What will this LP sound like?
It’s very different from the last one and similar to the first two, Born to Die and Paradise. I finished my last one [Ultraviolence] in March and released it in June and I had a follow-up idea. It’s growing into something I really like. I’m kind of enjoying sinking into this more noirish feel for this one. It’s been good.
There was no mention of a projected release date, as the singer-songwriter does have other things, namely awards season, on her mind: “Big Eyes,†which Rey wrote with Daniel Heath, has a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song — and could should have a chance at an Oscar.
