Did you know they’re making another Smurfs movie? They are, apparently, and Mandy Patinkin is going to star in it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Patinkin is voicing Papa Smurf in the 2016 film, which will be a “fully animated†Smurfs origin story directed by Gnomeo and Juliet’s Kelly Asbury. He’s inheriting the role from Jonathan Winters, who voiced Papa Smurf in both The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2, and died in 2013. Like his new character, Patinkin has a soothing manner, can grow a gigantic beard, and is secretly blue underneath all his clothes.
