Music mogul Suge Knight was involved in a hit-and-run earlier today that left one man dead and at least one other injured. TMZ first reported the news, noting that multiple witnesses saw Knight pull up to a film set in Compton, California, and proceed to argue with two unidentified men. The L.A. Times reported that the altercation took place at Tam’s Burgers, but it is unclear why Knight was there or why the fight started. James E. Blatt, Knight’s attorney, told CBS LA that Knight tried to escape by throwing his car into reverse and, in the process, mowed down one man and struck at least one other. Both individuals were reportedly transferred to a SoCal hospital, where one was pronounced dead and another is still in unknown condition.
EW added that the victim in question is TV actor Terry Carter, a close friend of Knight’s. The second man, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, has been identified as Cle Sloan, an L.A. filmmaker. The film project involves Dr. Dre and Ice Cube, but shooting had reportedly wrapped by the time Knight arrived. The LAPD is investigating the crash as a homicide, and Blatt said Knight will surrender in the near future, at a location to be announced.
