Sorry, everyone on the red carpet tonight: You were upstaged by a 2-year-old in a green velour suit. This year’s Grammys red carpet lacked a capital-M Moment on the level of Pharrell’s hat or M.I.A.’s bump-heavy eveningwear,. The closest thing was Wiz Khalifa’s nattily dressed son Sebastian in his pint-size tux. Madonna grabbed our attention with a matador suit and an epic ass-flash, and Sia continued in her Stiviano-like commitment to full-face obfuscation, this time in wig format.
Relatively speaking, the biggest risk-takers were men, who opted for offbeat prints (Nick Jonas in a plaid Versace suit) and flesh-baring silhouettes (Kanye’s man-cleave; Pharrell’s formal shorts). But for the most part, the red carpet fell victim to the banality that seems to have trickled down from film awards shows — stiff gowns, stiffer hairstyles, and usually boundary-pushing performers playing it increasingly safe. Click through the slideshow to see all our picks for the evening’s superlatives.

Most Unlikely Hit: Sebastian Taylor Thomaz Wiz Khalifa's son Sebastian hasn't even made it to his 3rd birthday, but he's already wearing a green velvet tux, not to mention commanding the E! red-carpet mic. Perhaps he can conduct the interviews next year.

Best Haute Powder Puff: Rihanna in Giambattista Valli Rih did a 180 from her usual body-con red-carpet looks and opted for the fluffiest, girliest tutu around. Polarizing to be sure, and possibly hiding a person under there, but excellent nonetheless.

Most Athleisure-Friendly Couple: Pharrell Williams and Helen Lasichanh No Smoky the Bear hat in evidence, but Pharrell mastered high-low with track shorts from his Adidas line paired with a white tie and jacket, while his wife, Helen Lasichanh, went full Chas Tenenbaum in a full-body tracksuit. You guys planning on working out after this?
