NBC ordered another comedy pilot yesterday, bringing the total number of comedy pilots currently up for consideration at the network to 13. According to THR, the network has added an untitled multi-cam buddy comedy from former Animal Practice producers Joe Russo, Anthony Russo, and Aseem Batra. Written by Batra (Scrubs, The Cleveland Show), the pilot is described as “a politically incorrect comedy centered on best friends Dale and Georgie, whose relationship is upended when he starts dating the ‘perfect’ woman.†The trio developed another pilot last season loosely based on Batra’s childhood but it did not move forward at NBC. Other recent NBC pilot orders include adaptations of Cuckoo and Strange Calls, sitcoms produced by Jimmy Fallon and Ellen DeGeneres, and multi-cam couples pilots People Are Talking and Take It From Us.
