A Request: Can Everyone Dress As Weird As Björk?

Every time a young musician puts on a meat dress or some other totally bizarre ensemble, let’s hope she whispers thanks to Björk. Since the early ‘90s, Björk has given us mind-boggling, awesomely bizarre outfits that have transformed and expanded the boundaries of music and fashion.
From her wacky red-carpet looks to full-on WTF stage costumes, Björk has managed to push the envelope without it feeling like a gimmick or the posturing of a try-hard. Her taste for out-there dressing seems to come from a place of artistic fulfillment — filled with gravity-defying headpieces, extensive sequins, and other gloriously weird shit.
To honor her new MoMA retrospective (and the release of new album Vulnicura), we’ve pulled together highlights of Björk’s fashion from stage and red carpet.
