Here’s a double dose of good news for Kendrick Lamar: To Pimp a Butterfly is his first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200; it’s also anyone’s first time getting the word pimp to the top of the chart. The next-highest-charting album with pimp in its title was Pimp C’s Pimpalation (No. 3 in 2006). As Billboard pointed out, the word butterfly is much more well acquainted with the top, thanks to Mariah Carey and Bob Carlisle, which just proves the ancient adage: It’s hard out there for pimp.
