After this summer, the next big Marvel film will be Captain America: Civil War, which will pit Captain American against Iron Man as opposing sides of the fight to have all superhumans register with the government. It is based on the Civil War series of comics from 2006 and 2007. Now, most of the superheroes from the original series have not been established in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so it’s going to have to pull from its existing characters. Which is why we posit the Avengers appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night was actually some super-sneaky foreshadowing. During a game of Family Feud, Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) was with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Thor (Chris Hemsworth), which was also the case in the comic books (though the Thor was actually a clone). Captain America (Chris Evans) was teamed with Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), neither of whom play a major role in the comic-book series (one was dead, one was in space — we won’t say which), but we can imagine they’ll get shoved in the movies. If this is the case, how do the teams look? Iron Man’s team has the star power, but Cap’s has Mark Ruffalo.
Or the teams were completely random!
