Earlier this week, J.K. Rowling announced that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child would premiere on the British stage in 2016 at the Palace Theatre on London’s West End. Everyone got excited and began to speculate what the play might depict (the wild rumpus of Harry’s parents and Remus Lupin during their school days, perhaps?), and headlines calling the play a “prequel†proliferated. This weekend, Rowling took to Twitter, as she is wont to do, to correct the widely misreported story: The Cursed Child is not a prequel. She said this several times, ardently, with increasing desperation.
