A year after the limo crash that left him in a coma and claimed the life of his friend James McNair, Tracy Morgan returned to NBC Monday for a two-part interview with Matt Lauer. Part one, Morgan’s first interview since the crash, saw the comedian tell Lauer he has no memory of the accident; and its follow-up saw him make an emotional homecoming to the SNL studios as he discussed his recovery process. “Sometimes, emotionally, I don’t feel well,†he told Lauer. “I’m really focused on my memory coming back to me, my walking getting better.†Tearing up, Morgan explained that he’s been battling guilt and depression since the accident. The way he knows he’s fully recovered, he says, is when he’s ready to get back into comedy: “I love comedy, and I wonder how I’m going to be funny again, remembering my identity … I promise you: One day, when I’m 100 percent, I’m going to grab that mic, and I’m never going to let it go. I’m going to be the funniest I can be because I ain’t never going to take life for granted no more.â€
