The lineup for Los Angeles’s annual FYF Fest is getting a notable, last-minute face-lift, as Frank Ocean has inexplicably dropped headlining duties and been replaced by none other than music’s savior Himself, Yeezus. The announcement comes two days before the fest’s first portion of performances. “Frank Ocean has decided on his own terms to cancel his appearance,†reads a news bulletin on the FYF website, noting that Ye will perform Saturday night on the Main Stage. “FYF Fest is excited to have Kanye West play this weekend in his newly adopted home of Los Angeles.â€
The update is bittersweet: Ocean’s was a highly anticipated set, thanks to the prospect of new tunes (Frank, why have you forsaken us?); however, as Glastonbury proved, Kanye likes a good headlining challenge and will likely deliver. The fest takes place this weekend at the L.A. Memorial Sports Arena and Exposition Park, with such acts as Morrissey, D’Angelo & the Vanguard, Run the Jewels, and FKA Twigs, among others, also slated to perform.
