The End of an Era: Jon Stewart Says Goodbye to ‘The Daily Show’

After 16 years, Jon Stewart said goodbye to The Daily Show last night through a finale episode that was nothing short of star-studded. From politicians and presidential candidates to an impressive lineup of past and present correspondents to some bonus surprises (Wyatt Cenac! Craig Kilborn! Bruce Springsteen! Gitmo! Every Daily Show employee!), Stewart’s farewell episode turned out to be the perfect sendup that was heavier on laughs than tears…except when Stephen Colbert showed up and forced Jon to endure a round of extreme compliments and gratitude (above). It’s undoubtedly the end of an amazing era for TV news, TV comedy, and the blurred line between all thanks to so many years of hard work by Stewart and his team.

Check out clips from the rest of Jon’s big farewell below. We’ll miss you, Jon.

UPDATE: The ratings for Jon’s big farewell are in, and they’re impressive. 3.5 million viewers tuned in to last night’s Daily Show, making it the second most viewed episode ever since President Obama’s visit in 2008 and a great way to wrap up Stewart’s 16-year run.
