Professionally shirtless Zac Efron will star opposite Dwayne Johnson in Baywatch the movie, THR reports with the Rock confirming on Twitter. The film is taking an abs-forward approach after languishing in development for the past few years, during which initial reports had us looking at a campier version directed by Reno 911! co-creator Robert Ben Garant and starring Bill Hader. The most recent script is reportedly written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift with Identity Thief’s Seth Gordon set to direct. In this iteration, Johnson would play a no-nonsense lifeguard with Efron as the young “I laugh at your rules!†hothead. The duo is forced to team up to save their beach from an evil oil tycoon who will no doubt be body-shamed into submission.
