Amy Poehler and her production company Paper Kite are on a roll this month. Deadline reports that both ABC and NBC have given put pilot commitments to Poehler-produced projects: Jordan Roter’s Aunt Jill (ABC) and Nisha Ganatra’s Pre-Madonna (NBC). Here’s more info on both projects:
Roter’s Aunt Jill is loosely based on her real aunt, who is said to be providing an endless supply of stories. The half-hour comedy centers on Jill (Mo Collins), a smart, confident, hilarious and lovable 50-year-old who chose a different path than most women her age by focusing on her career and social life instead of getting married and having a family. An independent woman her entire life, Jill now has to depend on her judgmental older sister and neurotic millennial niece as she reinvents herself and her career. Roter also executive produces, with Collins serving as a consulting producer. Inspired by filmmaker Nisha Ganatra’s adolescence, NBC’s Pre-Madonna finds Sarita Gupta entering a Chicago high school in 1983 and navigating the painful and hilarious path of finding out who she really is. Ganatra also executive produces, along with Tami Sagher.
In total, three Poehler-produced TV projects have gotten put pilot/production commitments in the past week: Aunt Jill, Pre-Madonna, and NBC’s Dumb Prince, which was announced last week.
