Nicki Minaj is headed to ABC Family to create and appear in her very own comedy series. Deadline reports that the network has ordered a scripted comedy based on Minaj’s life “growing up in Queens in the 1990s with her vibrant immigrant family and the personal and musical evolution that lead to her eventual rise to stardom.†Kate Angelo (The Bernie Mac Show, Will & Grace, Sex Tape) will write the untitled series and Minaj will executive produce and appear in the show, which begins production sometime this winter.
This makes the second autobiographical comedy about a Queens-based rapper announced today; Fox also gave a script commitment to Eat Pray Thug based on the life of Heems.
