To wrap up his first week as host of The Late Show, Stephen Colbert brought out the world’s preeminent Paul Simon tribute band, Troubled Waters, fresh off a canceled 2012 bar mitzvah. The twist here, one worthy of an M. Night Shyamalan movie circa 2000, is that the tribute band was fronted by Paul Simon himself, or someone who looks and sounds exactly like him. Simon and his cohort performed “Me and Julio Down by the Schoolyard†while Colbert, who is a few feet taller than the legendary singer, stood stoic for a minute or so before breaking into a sexy dance, which in no way distracted Simon. The host was also the featured whistler on the song. Expect the first Simon and Colbert album to drop early next year.
