We all knew that the 30 Rock episode where Lutz calls Liz Lemon “the C-word†came from her own experience while she was the head writer of SNL, but we never knew who said it until now. It was former “Weekend Update†anchor Colin Quinn. “I love him so much,†Fey told Howard Stern, who, true to form, wanted her to name names. “I was trying to help him with a show that he was working on, and I think his anxiety about the writing of the show spilled over. It was very random. I was like, ‘What?!’ He left me a message and he said that.â€
Fey continued, “I couldn’t even guess why. Usually, if someone calls you that, you’re like, ‘I know what I did.’†But she says that they’ve since made up. “We’ve since reconnected, at the SNL 40th, actually, and we’re good,†she said. She said that she even asked Quinn to come on 30 Rock, but he refused. “I asked Colin to be on 30 Rock like three times after that, and he turned us down every time,†she said. Well, it sounds like he would have been a great fit for the “The C Word†episode.
