Over the course of Batman v Superman’s promo campaign, the world’s gotten a peek at a couple new outfits for Ben Affleck’s Batman, including a “desert†ensemble that features a dusty trench coat over the iconic Batsuit. It’s a cool look, but wouldn’t it get a little sweaty? (Rubber Batsuits aren’t exactly known for their breathability.) Now the film’s costume designer Michael Wilkinson reveals that practicality, already not a super-important aspect of superhero costumes, was really not important in this case — because the whole scene is a dream sequence. “Zack [Snyder] had a great idea of this sort of nightmare-ish vision, almost a vision of the future, a post-apocalyptic vision,†Wilkinson said during a visit to Brazil CCXP. “It’s like a dream that Ben [Affleck] has … it has almost a Mad Max quality to it where it’s like the end of the world, trying to survive and then of course Superman and his minions come.†Wilkinson’s probably not speaking with a capital M about the minions, but if he is, wow, what a movie!
