Captain America: Civil War’s splashy, crowded, corporate-synergy-filled fight scenes are about to get a lot splashier, more crowded, and optimized for corporate synergy. According to Entertainment Weekly, new Spider-Man Tom Holland will make an appearance in Marvel’s latest tentpole before he takes the lead in a standalone film. According to the report, a Spidey stunt double was spotted on Civil War’s set alongside Holland himself. Though Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige suggested to EW that a loose co-splayer might be running around on one of Marvel’s infamously well-guarded sets, it seems the rest of the cast is more willing to talk. In a later interview, Robert Downey Jr. described his time making the film thusly: “We’re looking around like, ‘Who thought that Falcon and Black Panther and Ant-Man and now Spider-Man … ?’†(Well, Iron Man does like to break news himself.)
Of course, there’s always goody two shoes Captain America ready to rain on the parade. “You never know with Marvel,†Chris Evans told EW. “Sometimes they shoot things and then don’t use them.†There have previously been rumors that Marisa Tomei’s Aunt May could appear in Civil War as well, which is as good an excuse as any to remind you that, hey, Marisa Tomei is playing Aunt May.
