Since the premiere of Netflixâs Making a Murderer, fans skeptical of the Manitowoc County Sheriffâs Departmentâs handling of the investigation at the seriesâ heart have clamored for the release of Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey, who a decade ago were convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach. The largest such effort â a petition to get Avery and Dassey presidential pardons â fell short of its goals after President Obama pointed out that the pair are state, not federal, prisoners. Now family is getting involved: In a new effort to spread the word that both Dassey and Avery are innocent, Dasseyâs half brother Brad, a self-proclaimed âindie Christian rapper,â has written a song called âThey Didnât Do It,â in which he argues the court proceedings that convicted Dassey were ânot a fair trial, not a fair game,â because the prosecution didnât âstick to the facts.â Listen to the song below:
