Brother of Making a Murderer’s Brendan Dassey Releases Rap Song ‘They Didn’t Do It’

Since the premiere of Netflix’s Making a Murderer, fans skeptical of the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Department’s handling of the investigation at the series’ heart have clamored for the release of Steven Avery and his nephew Brendan Dassey, who a decade ago were convicted of murdering photographer Teresa Halbach. The largest such effort — a petition to get Avery and Dassey presidential pardons — fell short of its goals after President Obama pointed out that the pair are state, not federal, prisoners. Now family is getting involved: In a new effort to spread the word that both Dassey and Avery are innocent, Dassey’s half brother Brad, a self-proclaimed “indie Christian rapper,” has written a song called “They Didn’t Do It,” in which he argues the court proceedings that convicted Dassey were “not a fair trial, not a fair game,” because the prosecution didn’t “stick to the facts.” Listen to the song below:
