How deep down the rabbit hole have we all gone for Making a Murderer? Not as deep as the Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, who, inspired by the show, just released a song under his new band the Arcs. The band says they felt compelled to write the song, “Lake Superior†(named for the show’s Wisconsin setting), after they spent “a few sleepless nights†getting a “sneak peek at what goes on behind the curtains of our criminal justice system.†Over the course of two days, they put together this breezy song, which is as much a reflection of the show’s brutally honest depiction of a broken class system, as it is about what happened to Steven Avery. “It’s like Billy Childish says, ‘We live in troubled times,’†they wrote with the announcement. All proceeds from downloads will go to the Innocence Project, which helped exonerate Avery after 18 years in prison.
