Fred Armisen Can Do Any Southern Accent — Provided, of Course, You Aren’t From the South and Don’t Know What One Actually Sounds Like

As a New Yorker by way of the Midwest, I can say that it is uncanny how accurate Fred Armisen’s many, many southern accents were on Fallon last night. You can hear that sweet New Awlins jazz and that sweet Tennessee bluegrass and that sweet whatever they have in Arkansas in his voice, which I take to be an accurate depiction of each regional sound since I just don’t have much experience with them. We’re seeing a perfectly honed skill demonstrated by a master impressionist, as far as I know. Some people just have a gift.
