Remember that joke from Top Five about the Tyler Perry Halloween movie, Boo! A Madea Halloween? Lionsgate did, and now they’re making it an actual movie with the same exact title. Variety reports that the studio has set an October 21 opening date for the real-world film, which follows Perry’s Madea as she fights a bunch of “killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens.†(One of whom will be played by Disney star Bella Thorne.) If you’re reading this thinking that this movie sounds awful, remember that Tyler Perry is not making these movies for you.
