Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, which was once Prometheus 2 and is now a bridge between the Prometheus and Alien films, has filled out the rest of its cast. Jussie Smollett, who plays Jamal Lyon on Empire, and Carmen Ejogo, who played Coretta Scott King in Selma, have climbed aboard the mysterious space thriller, alongside Machete Kills’ Callie Hernandez and The Killing’s Amy Seimetz. According to Fox’s synopsis, Covenant follows the crew of a colony ship, who discover “what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.†The newcomer’s roles haven’t been specified, but it’s likely they’ll join Danny McBride’s technician (and comic relief) and Katherine Waterston’s lead character, Daniels, aboard the crew of the ship. Perhaps Smollett can even serenade them with a few Cookie-produced tunes.
