The original Law & Order has been off Netflix for over a year now, and the only way to stream all episodes digitally is to buy them on an online video store such as Amazon. But for at least the rest of February, fans of old-school L&O will be able to watch the very first five episodes of Dick Wolf’s never-ending franchise whenever they want. Starting today, Sundance.TV, the website of the similarly titled cable channel, is making those early installments of L&O available to stream for free. There’s no particular reason Sundance is doing this now: The show’s 25th anniversary was last fall. (And, obviously, random reruns of the show are all over cable.) But this is TV’s greatest crime procedural we’re talking about here. Does there really have to be a reason?
