Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.
Did you know that National Doctors’ Day is a real holiday that exists, and it’s today? To celebrate doctors everywhere, this week Second City sent us another clip from a rare 1980 special called Bill Murray Live from the Second City, which starred Murray alongside Danny Breen, Mary Gross, Bruce Jarchow, Tim Kazurinsky, Nancy McCabe-Kelly, Rob Riley, and George Wendt. In the above scene, Murray goes to the doctor’s office to get something checked out, but when his name is called for the appointment, he’s understandably a little reluctant to openly talk about the condition with Sister Mary Innocent. Check out two more clips from the special here and here.
