Several months after being charged with dog smuggling in Australia, Amber Heard on Monday pleaded guilty there to submitting faulty immigration docs. But the AP notes the actress was able to dodge the prison time and pricey fine she faced last July. Instead, an Australian magistrate gave Heard a one-month good-behavior bond, which entails a AU$1,000 penalty if any other laws are broken there in the next month.
The debacle began last year when the couple traveled overseas via private jet so Depp could shoot the fifth Pirates of the Caribbean; they brought their two Yorkshire terriers, but failed to properly declare them. Though Jack Sparrow avoided trouble, he still appeared with Heard in an apology vid (above) screened for the court. “When you disrespect Australian law, they will tell you firmly,†the two said, referencing the country’s strict biosecurity rules. “I’m truly sorry that [our dogs] Pistol and Boo were not declared. Protecting Australia is important. Declare everything when you enter Australia.â€
