Which network is lucky enough to be the one that brings Amy Adams back to TV? Turns out, it’s not TV — it’s HBO! Deadline reports that the premium cable channel has won a bidding war with Netflix for Sharp Objects, an adaptation of the 2006 Gillian Flynn book that will star Adams as an unstable reporter investigating the death of two teenage girls. The order is for an eight-episode first season, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and written by Flynn and unREAL’s Marti Noxon. Hopefully, her new branch of the Time Warner family will treat Adams better than her old one.
