Just for today, those rank terror-burps will turn into burps of relief. Following a guilty plea earlier this year, Robert Durst has been sentenced to seven years and one month in prison. U.S. District Judge Kurt Engelhardt approved the sentence in New Orleans as part of a plea bargain. The charges stem from Durst’s possession of a .38 revolver, despite being a convicted felon; the maximum possible sentence for the crime was ten years and a $250,000 fine. Lawyers working for The Jinx subject petitioned the court on Monday that he be able to serve his time at the Terminal Island federal correctional institution outside of L.A. The former fugitive still faces murder charges in California for the 2000 death of friend Susan Berman.
