Cecily Strong’s Heather is supposedly the star of Bagging Heather, but she’s consistently upstaged by her older male partner and also a talking fish. Strong brought back the one-dimensional female character from a male-driven comedy to discuss recent studies that female characters in Disney movies get less dialogue, even in the films where they’re billed as the stars. Or rather, Heather sits there and gets prompted by Colin Jost, because she has trouble thinking at her own accord. Also, when she runs out of her allotted screen time, she simply turns off — that way nobody has to pay her like a man.
