Idris Elba won’t play James Bond, stop asking him, but he will play a criminal-defense lawyer in Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game, which chronicles the card-shuffling adventures of a woman named Molly who organized secret card games for celebrities. (Jessica Chastain will be playing the titular Molly.) In a statement, probably dictated while walking through many long hallways, Sorkin said, “The casting of Jessica and Idris in the two lead roles is any filmmaker’s dream come true. They’re two of the greatest actors of their generation, paired for the first time, and their chemistry will be electric.†Elba, who’s also starring in the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, probably won’t be wearing any face paint for the role.
