Dolly Parton’s New York Fans Dress Exactly Like Her
Dolly Parton performed at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens on Saturday night, attracting an extravagantly dressed crowd who wore exactly what she would: lavish rhinestones, embroidered cowboy boots, and breezy, colorful prints. “You know what I say,” the singer told her audience from the stage. “It takes a lot of money to look this cheap. That’s the biggest truth I ever told.” The crowd roared with approval.
Coinciding with New York’s Pride weekend, Parton’s New York concert was one stop on her Pure & Simple tour, her biggest excursion in 25 years. Onstage, the 70-year-old played eight instruments, sang several songs a cappella, and repeatedly acknowledged LGBT fans in the crowd.
