Hey, remember 2010? That glorious year when Shrek Forever After won our hearts, Taylor Swift was still putting out country songs, and Charlie Sheen confidently strode the set of Two and a Half Men? If you were on Twitter back then, you may recall a little hashtag called #Donald4Spiderman and its slacktivist push to get then-star of Community Donald Glover cast as Spider-Man in a then-impending reboot. The role went to Andrew Garfield, who has himself now been rebooted out of the canon in anticipation of next year’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Though Glover will not be playing Spidey — that honor has gone to the wee lad Tom Holland — it appears he’ll be in the movie in some capacity. Deadline reports the sometimes-rapper will appear in the film. So if you, for some reason, have spent the last few years tweeting #Donald4SupportingRoleinSpiderman, congratulations: You led one of the most successful social-media campaigns of all time!
