Bill Hader has his own show headed to HBO soon. According to Deadline, the network has given a series order to a half-hour comedy directed by and starring Hader called Barry, which it ordered to pilot back in January. Written by Hader and Silicon Valley’s Alec Berg, the series will follow “an ex-Marine (Hader) who works as a low-rent hitman in the Midwest. Lonely and dissatisfied in his life, he begrudgingly travels to Los Angeles to kill someone and ends up finding an accepting community in a group of eager hopefuls within the LA theater scene.†Henry Winkler, Stephen Root, Sarah Goldberg, Anthony Carrigan, and Glenn Fleshler round out the cast of the show, which will begin shooting in LA sometime next year.
