Monday night, Lady Gaga gave a speech at Los Angeles City Hall as thousands gathered for a vigil honoring the victims of the massacre at an Orlando gay nightclub that left 49 dead and many more injured. The singer, a known LGBT activist, joined her voice with the many mourning in the wake of America’s deadliest mass shooting. She spoke about how everyone, in and out of the community, was affected by the tragedy, saying, “I can’t help but to feel that this level of hatred, like all prejudicial crimes, this is an attack on humanity itself. This is an attack on everyone.â€
Lady Gaga went on to ask the crowd to “pledge an allegiance of love to them and to their families who are suffering so deeply.†She stated: “I will not allow my anger and outrage over this attack to overshadow our need to honor those who are grieving truly for their lost ones — lost members of the LGBTQ community.†She ended her speech poignantly by reading the names and ages of the victims.
