Showtime has won the bidding war for the Daniel Craig-starring adaptation of Jonathan Franzen’s Purity, the network announced today. The project landed a straight-to-series order of 20 episodes to air over the course of two years. Todd Field will direct every episode, while David Hare and Franzen will serve as writers. Shooting doesn’t begin until next year, so maybe suggest your book club take up something else in the meantime. Have you guys read those Elena Ferrante novels? My sister says they’re good!
