Jon Stewart had a run-in with the CBS censors on Thursday, when he stopped by buddy Stephen Colbert’s live Republican National Convention coverage to unspool a classic Jon Stewart perched-behind-the-desk rant. After briefly luxuriating in the fall of Roger Ailes, Stewart turned his sights on the rest of Ailes’s former organization, Stewart’s erstwhile nemesis, Fox News. The Daily Show host of our hearts addressed the network’s desperate support of Donald Trump, saying: “You feel that you are this country’s rightful owners. There’s only one problem with that: This country isn’t yours. You don’t own it. It never was.†From there, well, it’s hard to say: Stewart, needing a reminder from a stowed-under-the-desk Colbert that the show was airing live, got bleeped a bunch. Jon, buddy, we [expletive] miss you.
