Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil are both skilled at producing, and being a power couple. ABC finally realized this, and ordered a pilot of Documenting Love, a multi-cam comedy from the duo, Deadline reports. Mara Brock Akil created Girlfriends and The Game, which ran on the CW and BET for a combined nine seasons. The Game set a rating record when it moved to BET, with 7.7 million viewers tuning in for the premiere. Her husband, Salim Akil, was the director on both shows and executive-produced The Game. Mara Brock Akil also created Being Mary Jane. Documenting Love will draw parallels to Mad About You, and follow a modern-day power couple.
