The annual Teen Choice Awards was held Sunday night at the Forum in Inglewood, California, giving those of us who are not teenagers a glimpse into a bizarro universe where John Cena and Victoria Justice are big enough celebrities to host an awards show. Gina Rodriguez wore a tuxedo, Flo Rida and Empire’s Serayah performed, and winners — like the cast of Pretty Little Liars — walked home with customized surfboards. (Do teens love surfing? Who knows?)
Kobe Bryant — not a Who! — presented Justin Timberlake with the first-ever Decade Award, for his series of hits over the years. It was Timberlake’s first public appearance at an awards show since he was called out on Twitter for his comments following Jesse Williams’s speech at the BET Awards, and during his acceptance speech, he nodded to musical influences like Al Green, Stevie Wonder, and Aretha Franklin. And fellow non-Who Jessica Alba spoke out against gun violence in what was undoubtedly the night’s most somber moment.
But the night, and the red carpet, was dominated by famous teens in glittery dresses who look vaguely familiar in a maddening way. Click through to see all the looks.
