Was the season 4 Inside Amy Schumer finale from June the last episode of the series? That seems to be what Schumer announced on Twitter last night after she spoke out against Inside Amy Schumer writer Kurt Metzger’s recent comments on rape and sexual assault allegations within the comedy community:
I am so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger. He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn’t be more against his recent actions.

Kurt does not work for me. He is not a writer on my show. Please stop asking me about it. His words are not mine. — Amy Schumer (@amyschumer) August 17, 2016
Metzger has been credited as a writer on Schumer’s show since it debuted in 2013, so her tweet saying otherwise was a little confusing. Here’s how she attempted to clear it up:
I didn’t fire Kurt. He isn’t a writer for my show because we aren’t making the show anymore. There are no writers for it.

Comedy Central renewed Inside Amy Schumer for season 5 back in January, and the new season was slated to air in 2017, so it’s still unclear whether Schumer means she’s decided to quit the show or it’s been canceled despite the renewal. Comedy Central has not yet commented on the series’ future.
UPDATE: Schumer just clarified her confusing tweets, and despite already saying they “aren’t making the show anymore,†she says she just meant that the show is on hiatus and won’t be returning “for the foreseeable futureâ€:
#InsideAmySchumer is not cancelled. @ComedyCentral has provided us with a wonderful home and we couldn’t be happier there. I am just touring — Amy Schumer (@amyschumer) August 18, 2016
Doing Standup and focusing on writing more for the next year at least. We are slated for a season 5 but not in the foreseeable future.

So, to sum it up: Schumer condemned Metzger’s comments, said he’s not a writer on her show, said she didn’t fire him, said she’s not making the show anymore, then said the show is on a very long hiatus.
UPDATE: Schumer just shared a sneak peek from her interview with Charlie Rose airing this Friday where she addresses Metzger’s comments further. “He baits people. He’s the problem, no question, but the focus is on him rather than on what the real main problem is,†Schumer says, pointing out that Metzger is her friend and “his views are so different from those of mine and most of the other writers in the room.†It seems that Schumer wants to have it both ways – she’s standing behind him as an Inside Amy Schumer writer, but at the same time, she doesn’t want fans to associate his words with her:
I’m not on Facebook so I don’t read his crazy rants. He just gets something from going after people, making them mad. That is not representative of me at all. And, you know, I’ve asked him, just, “Can you just stop? Because it comes back to me.†Because he writes for the show, it’s a bigger story because of our connection, and so whatever tangent he’s gone off on I have not agreed with. And it’s been really upsetting to me seeing someone that I care about hurt themselves like this.
