Ariella Segal Is Redefining the One-Woman Show

One-person shows are usually characterized by a string of character pieces, appreciated (or bemoaned) by a collection of live humans who must sit in their seats for at least a half hour, lest they be perceived as rude by the Bumble date that brought them there. Ariella Segal is changing that game with her series of digital one-woman shows based on arcs of long-running TV series, like Breaking Bad, Friends, and The Walking Dead, and she does it well. What start as cringeworthy pieces become brilliant not 20 seconds into their sub two-minute runtimes. They’re quick, they’re relevant (Jesus Christ. Friends is still relevant!), and they’re great showpieces for a woman who’s quite obviously out of her mind. Do a Seinfeld one next, Ariella!
